Blog Journal #9

During the Covid-19 Pandemic that started in March of 2020, there was a transition from in person learning to online due to it being unsafe for students and staff to be in the classroom at the time. One thing that I liked about distant learning is that it allowed me to attend class from the comfort of my bed. It was nice being able to wake up a short amount of time before having to join my class on zoom. On the other hand, one downside to distance learning is I felt very disconnected from the classroom and the classmates. I often found myself easily getting distracted while participating in distant learning because it was not a formal classroom setting.

Open Educational Resources are free resources that is publicly open for people to use. Bellow I have attached a link to a website titled “OER Commons” which is a webpage where you can both research and upload your own OER. Within the website there is a feature where you can sign up and join groups to share different OER within each other . I think this would be a great way for teachers to share open online resources that they think others can benefit from.

While PowerPoint is not an application that was newly introduced to me, I did learn many new functions that the software has to offer. While completing assignment #4 I learned that you can do a voice over to your slideshow that can be used for others to watch your presentation. One thing I liked about assignments 4 and 5 is that it gave me a better understanding of some of the tasks that teachers do when creating their presentations / slideshows. One thing that I feel that I can improve on based on theses assignments is the overall organization and alignment of my PowerPoints.
